COMMITMENT

CommitmentI would pay more for an employee who is committed to his job than for any skill set. Committed people blow up performance barriers that stop talented people dead in their tracks.

Let’s face it.  The last thing the hiring manager wants is some loser who doesn’t show up for work or who gives less than their all at work.  I’m not saying you need to be a workaholic, but you do need to work hard when you’re at work.  If you don’t, you lied when you agreed to take the job.  When you are offered a position, don’t say “yes” unless you can dedicate yourself to three entities: the work itself, the supervising manager, and the company.

In the job interview, the interviewer will be looking at four areas to assess your level of commitment:  job steadiness, time and attendance, their perception of your health, and your loyalty to past and current jobs.
